This year’s Gordon Marriott Memorial Golf Day took place at Blackley Golf Club, Middleton on Friday 7 September.

The day has been held annually since 2011 in memory of the late Gordon Marriott who passed away from mesothelioma in 2010.

His daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and Chris Hazelhurst, set up the annual golf day to raise awareness of mesothelioma and raise money for the Greater Manchester Asbestos Victims Support Group (GMAVSG).

The Court of Appeal today ruled (see Cape and Dring Approved judgment) that the Asbestos Victims Support Groups Forum (‘the Forum’) has a legitimate interest in obtaining documents that will shed light on the true knowledge of the dangers of asbestos products held by Cape Intermediate Holdings, formerly one of the largest manufacturers of asbestos products in the UK.

The Forum must be given access to numerous documents which were disclosed in an earlier case in which Cape were a defendant.

Thank you to everyone who supported Action Mesothelioma Day in Manchester last Friday.

The aim of Action Mesothelioma Day is to raise awareness of the asbestos cancer mesothelioma, and to campaign on issues affecting mesothelioma victims, for example by calling for more funding for medical research.

Thank you, once again, to everyone who supported this very important event!
