Documents recently obtained by the Asbestos Victims Support Groups’ Forum UK show that Cape, formerly a leading asbestos manufacturer, hid the true dangers of its deadly products in the 1960s and 1970s. Many died as a result. Cape fought (and lost) a legal battle to keep these documents from the public. The Forum is calling on Cape, now owned by Altrad, to donate at least £10 million to research into a mesothelioma, a deadly cancer caused by asbestos. A group of MPs and Lords, through the All Party Parliamentary Group on Occupational Safety and Health, has written to Altrad to urge them to finally do the right thing.
