Mesothelioma is an aggressive cancer. It can be caused by very low exposures to asbestos dust. Despite the import & manufacture of asbestos being banned in 1999, asbestos is still present in many of our homes, workplaces, schools and hospitals.
As this asbestos materials inevitably deteriorates, a new generation is being put at risk of developing mesothelioma in decades to come.
Mesothelioma rates in the UK remain stubbornly high. We have the highest rates of mesothelioma in the world.
We believe the only solution to this national crisis is a nationwide strategy to remove asbestos, safely and systematically, from all public buildings within 40 years.
Join us in the Upper Hall of the Friends Meeting House (6 Mount Street, Manchester, M2 5NS) at 12.30pm on Friday 5th July 2024. Remember those who have died. Let’s fight to get asbestos out of the places where we live and work.
