The Canadian Federal government announced today that asbestos and asbestos-containing materials will be banned by 2018.
This is a significant and welcome reversal by Canada which, until very recently, was one of the leading asbestos mining and exporting countries in the world.
Credit is due to all those campaigners in Canada, Asia and other parts of the world who have kept up the fight, against well resourced and well connected industry opposition, to achieve this fantastic turnaround.
